Your Child’s First Visit

Both the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommend that children visit a dentist by age one. Routine dental visits are also the best way to reinforce life-long oral health habits like proper brushing and flossing.

Dental Cleanings & Exams for Kids

Routine cleanings and exams are especially important for kids, because many dental problems that occur later on can be avoided with great dental care during childhood.

Positive dental experiences also give kids an opportunity to get acquainted with our office, which makes them feel less nervous about visiting us. Education is empowering, so we take every opportunity we can to make your child’s visit a learning experience.

Protective Dental Sealants

Dental sealants fill in the grooves on the chewing surfaces of the molars, an area where food particles commonly get caught and cause cavities. Sealants can be applied quickly with no shots or drilling, effectively protecting teeth for years.

Fluoride Treatments

Fluoride protects teeth from decay and can even reverse the early stages of decay. Dr. Krasniqi provides a safe, concentrated fluoride rinse after each cleaning to give your child’s smile a cavity-fighting boost.

Custom Athletic Mouthguards

Children and teens who participate in contact sports and high-impact recreational activities are at an increased risk of dental injury. Athletic mouthguards not only protect your child’s teeth and soft tissues, but they also help prevent more serious head trauma like concussions.

Thumb & Finger Sucking

These habits are natural and normal for children, but if they persist past the age of three they can impact the way a child’s teeth erupt. The constant pressure can cause the upper front teeth to tip forward or even come in crooked or gapped. If your child hasn’t stopped sucking on his or her finger, thumb, or pacifier by the age of three, let Dr. Krasniqi know. He has a great deal of experience working with children and will be happy to give you suggestions for dealing with comfort sucking in a gentle but effective way.
